Sam Swales Snowden is a painter living and working in York. She studied Fine Art, Painting at Hull School of Art.
Her paintings are a mapping of an internal emotional space and fragments of experience. Eventually each piece becomes a pared down composition of colour and space removed entirely from any semblance of representation, describing only its own physicality.
She is a member of PICA studios, which is situated on Grape Lane in the city centre of York. PICA is a collective of 20 artists who came together to fund a workspace in the centre of their town. She has also founded a contemporary group of artists called YO! Collective to promote contemporary art in York.
